Where should I stand?
This can vary depending on the dog and how the field is set up.
The best spot especially if you have a med-large breed dog is right next to me its ok I don't bite lol heck most of the time I'll even start a conversation with ya to find out more about your furry friend.
If you have a small breed, please tell me I set myself up for the big dogs it's easier to come forward for the little guys, but I won't know till they are already at us, and we miss the shot. Most of the time you'll only have to let me know the first day you compete and 9 times out of 10 I remember the catcher and what dog it is (if you swap catchers just remind me about your tiny but mighty friend).
Greyhound people PLEASE tell me they are coming I get well out of these guys way.
Don't want pictures or have a reactive dog by all means tell me and I will gladly step out of the catchpen, if it's just reactive I may see if there's a way, I can sneak shots from the fence.
My dog won't run unless he can see me!
No problem what I suggest is keep to the opposite side of the line as me. if there isn't enough room about the time a dog is at the LO they are close enough for me to start lining up for my shot take a couple steps to the side to clear the way, most dogs at this point can see and hear you in the catchpen and you suddenly popping out of sight might even drive them to go faster. It's not the LO that makes a dog fast it's the dog (I also moonlight as a LO).
Some dogs are about the bunny some it's just a long recall. Both show the speed of the dog and are great ways to play the game. If your dog is a recall dog, please come deeper into the catchpen.
